About

Meet Julianne

Julianne Cerreta (she/her) is a choreographer and dance educator originally from the Hudson Valley, New York. She has 20 years of experience in dance and a slightly unconventional journey. Despite having already danced for 9 years, Julianne was not introduced to the world of classical ballet until age 16 when she began training at Hudson River Performing Arts Center in Fishkill, NY. While attempting to squeeze in a decade of training in just 2.5 years, she performed in multiple full length ballets and select works from the classical repertoire. This period ignited her passion for ballet and led her to pursue additional training at the ABT Collegiate Summer Intensive, Dean College, and eventually earning her BA in Dance from Goucher College and MFA in Choreography at the University of Roehampton in London, England.

As a dance artist, Julianne has taught and presented work internationally. Her commitment to safe and superb dance education has led her to pursue additional teaching certifications in the ABT® National Training Curriculum through level 5 and Progressing Ballet Technique. In addition to her certifications, Julianne holds memberships through NDEO (National Dance Education Organization) and CORPS de Ballet International. Though her primary pedagogical interest lie in ballet, she is also a teacher of jazz, musical theatre, and modern. Currently, she is the Director of Dance at Kent School.

Julianne is known for being a versatile choreographer with an affinity for creating concert dance, musical theatre, and everything in between. She is consistently choreographing work for stage and film, producing individual works, full length musicals, and ballets. Julianne possesses an unwavering commitment to a healthy, progressive, and kind creative process. Every work staged by her is guided by her moral responsibility to do what is right by the dancers, while still achieving superior artistry.

In addition to her work as an artist, Julianne has a robust background in residential life. Most recently she was employed by Cincinnati Ballet as their Resident Housing Supervisor and previously held positions at the Boston Ballet School, Goucher College, and the University of Roehampton.
